When we viewed our house we really didn't like the living room, it felt a little uninviting and it was dark and dingy. And when we moved into the house almost two years ago, the living room was one of the rooms we still didn't have a vision for. However once we chose the sofa, it all just started to come together from there. Now we have managed to create a space that feels comfortable and relaxing but light and airy at the same time.
We stripped all the paper from the walls, it was that embossed type paper (or just terrible 3D paper as Craig calls it) and my Dad lined all the walls and then papered a feature wall for us. Craig painted the remaining walls, skirting and ceiling. The dark blue carpet came up and was replaced with a light neutral colour (which is pretty much the same throughout the house), that way if we decide to change the colour scheme of any room there is no need to change the carpet each time.
Then we started to get the furniture in...
Then added a few more accessories and here we are today...
Still a few little finishing touches to do, we need to get some curtains, put some pictures up, finish the door and decide whether to put shelves, a picture, or something else in the alcove, or just leave it as is. I am happy with the results and we both enjoy chilling out in our little living room.
